When we spoke to the creator of these dolls, we were so impressed by her vision. She created these dolls to be realistic looking dolls that girls could feel their best playing with. (No cinched in waists here). They also celebrate the diversity of what it means to be Black with mixed race, vitiligo and albinism varieties included too. The Sibahle Collection, created by Bounce Essentials Africa in 2016, is the brainchild of Caroline Hlahla and Khulile Vilakazi-Ofosu. Sibahle, meaning "We are beautiful" in Zulu, was born from the desire to empower black children to be proud of their skin. The first two dolls in this collection, Nobuhle (beauty in Zulu) and Bontle (beauty in Sotho), feature African child-like features, including vanilla scent and 4C Afro hair. These dolls aim to teach black children to care for their natural hair and grow up with confidence in their African heritage.

The world is diverse, and South Africa is known as the Rainbow Nation. We want every child to appreciate and embrace this diversity. That's why we are introducing the "Rainbow Nation" Collection, hoping to teach children of all races to appreciate and celebrate diversity. The Sibahle Collection and the Rainbow Nation Collection together represent our commitment to fostering inclusivity, self-acceptance, and pride in one's heritage.
