The Faraway Truth by Janae Marks

This is a warm, wise and captivating mystery full of heart, as one girl searches for the truth in the face of great opposition.

This novel was devoured by Lamide, The Cornrow co-founder's nine year old daughter. See her review below!

'Truly a must-read.' Angie Thomas, author of The Hate U Give.

Zoe Washington never met her father, who was sent to prison right before she was born. When she receives a letter from him on her twelfth birthday, it's a huge surprise.

Zoe's mom always told her that Marcus was a liar, a monster, but he sounds ... nice. Zoe starts to investigate the crime - and the deeper she digs, the more she doubt the conviction.

Is her father innocent? Or is he a liar? Zoe is determined to find out.

Suggested reading age: 8 to 12

Lamide's review

The Faraway Truth is an amazing book. The book is set in America, the story line is wonderful. A real page turner for ages 8 - 11. Twists and turns often occur and this story is based on reality.

The Faraway Truth is an exciting book with events that could have happened. A young girl Zoe is living with her mum and stepfather, her genetic father was put in prison 12 years ago. It is her job to figure out what has happened in the past.

This book made me realise that it is not always good vs bad but true vs false.
