Anna Hibiscus
A collection of four linked stories of family life set in modern west Africa.
Anna Hibiscus lives in amazing Africa with her mother,, her father, her baby twin brothers, and lots and lots of her family. Join her as she splashes in the sea, prepares for a party, sells oranges,, and hopes to see sweet, sweet snow! Atinuke said she wanted to represent modern Africa, the Africa of her childhood in these stories.
It so lovely for all kids of the UK to see what day to day life is like in "Amazing Africa" (with the books actually set in Lagos we guess, although Atinuke never says!)
This book is on Kemi's daughter's primary school reading list which is a great indication of the quality of the prose as well as the wonderful storyline.
Why It's on The Cornrow?
It wouldn’t be The Cornrow without a book edit. Our co-founder Kemi is a voracious reader and her dream was to open her own book store, well here it is!! She knows The Cornrow visitors will be a well read bunch too, so she has kept the edit at must have classics and the latest releases! Enjoy!
All The Cornrow purchases can be beautifully gift wrapped in one of our special wrapping papers for £3 per product. Simply select this option at checkout and we will do the rest.
