Little Six Children Ornament
The Noush Projects dolls transform the classic Clonette dolls by embedding them deeply into the modern African milieu. While still carrying the traditional attributes of Clonette such as stylized hair, arms around an animal, and an expressionless face, these dolls are now crafted in either ebony black or ivory white with a mix of gold while proudly holding African animals with features that depict their African heritage.
25cm from head to toe. They are a full set of six but are bought individually. Each doll is cast in resin from a hand carved wooden mould. Designed and hand painted by Belgian artist Manoushka and carved by a South African artisan called Blessing in Durban South Africa. These are show stopping decorative pieces that will look amazing on your bookshelf or mantlepiece.
Why it's on The Cornrow
These funky little dolls are here to revive the spiritual and reverential vibe of traditional African dolls, but with a fresh modern twist. By boldly fusing the old with the new, the Noush dolls are taking the doll game to a whole new level!
Noush Project Dolls are created by an artist/maker pair - Manoushka and Blessing
Manoushka recognised the history of the Clonnette doll that was popular across Africa in the 60s and 70s and aimed to reimagine them with features and props that better resembled the Africans that were playing with them.
These dolls are iconic pieces of art that should be cherished for generations.
