The Nana Bag
The market bag that reminds you of Ridley Road Market, excess baggage and a terrible time in Nigerian history gets a long overdue revamp!
Perfect as a book bag, beach bag or grocery bag, this tote really is a bag for life. They measure approximately 15in wide x 17in high.
We have called it The Nana because we know the bag by a very insensitive Nigerian name so it was important to us to give it a prideful Ghanaian name.
"Nana" means - King, Queen or Royal in the traditional Akan language of Ghana. It was also The Cornrow's Nan that helped us come up with the plan for how to sew this tricky fabric into something special, so the name Nana felt extra fitting!
We hope you enjoy this bag - please note these are all lovingly handmade so measurements will vary slightly. The bag also features an interior pocket, perfect for keeping your phone/keys accessible with ease.
Why it's on The Cornrow
We have grown up with this traditional chequered bag - I think you would be hard pressed to find a household in the world that doesn't contain a supersized bag in this print - but it hasn't necessarily been something you would display or use with pride (Burberry check it ain't). We wanted to re-work the fabric and give it a contemporary stylish design that would make you happy to strut around your city with it. To market we go!
All The Cornrow purchases can be beautifully gift wrapped in one of our special wrapping papers for £3 per product. Simply select this option at checkout and we will do the rest.
